claudiatammen > July 28: Pink Rain in the Espanola Valley, NM Here is another photo taken the day of a thunderstorm which created the effect called "pink rain" in northern New Mexico. An added plus was the double rainbow.
claudiatammen > July 27: Filling station at Ghost Ranch I love this quaint little gas station - it serves about 20 Ranch vehicles on a regular basis, as well as guests who are desperate. It is amazing how people on a budget can get by on a little chewing gum and duct tape.....The Maintenance guys are a great crew. Notice the fire extinguisher hanging from the middle structure (safety feature), and the old U.S. post box on top of the left tank. They use it for receipts. This is why I love this place.
claudiatammen > July 26: Wetlands Reflection This was taken the first evening I arrived at Ghost Ranch. I waited (mostly in vain) for the moon to rise, but got some nice reflection shots at the wetlands waste water reclamation project, which is also a great habitat for birds (none of which you see here).
claudiatammen > July 24: Chimney Rock sunset I've been in Abiquiu, New Mexico at one of my favorite places to photograph, Ghost Ranch. This image was taken in the late evening when we experienced a phenomenon called "pink rain". The whole sky turned pink. The rain evaporates before it hits the ground, but catches the sun's last rays and turns the whole sky shades of pink. These colors are just a bit saturated. It really looks like this! These last few weeks I haven't participated in Daily Photos, but as I have many, many to work on from my trip, I will try to post something each day. it's good to be back.
claudiatammen > June 17: Flower with a hat Today is the first time I've experimented with my new extension tubes for close-up shots. I didn't do so well with most of them, but this was one I liked. Mostly because this flower kept it's hat when it bloomed from the pod into the flower and it looks quite humorous. It will fall off eventually as the flower continues to bloom. I regret not getting the top of the "hat", but I couldn't get the lens to focus.....I see lots of practice in my future.
claudiatammen > June 16: Mission Koi More from my Mission San Juan Capistrano trip. I enjoy photographing the Koi and water lilies in the Mission's two ponds. It is a beautiful mission - "Jewel of the Missions", in fact. This is the one that celebrates the return of the swallows every spring at the same time.
claudiatammen > June 14: Mission Arbor I visited Mission San Juan Capistrano today. I've been many times to take pictures, and I never get tired of it. I'm learning my way around my new Canon 50D and having fun with it.
claudiatammen > June 7: Landscape, Vedanta Temple It was an overcast day here, and the colors were not the most vibrant, so I thought a B&W conversion was called for.
claudiatammen > June 5: Sufi Tree I like experimenting with making a lens blur or zoom blur. I love this oak at a nearby Vedanta Temple with the circular bench beneath. I don't know what possessed me to try a zoom blur at this spot, but it seems to have brought the tree to life, like it's dancing. Though I've never seen Sufi's spin, I've heard about this tradition. So, this is my spinning Sufi tree.
