claudiatammen > Curious: I stopped by the side of the road to photograph this fellow - he has a beautiful thick neck. This is as close as I could get, because any closer and he tried to eat my camera!

claudiatammen > Kristin & her goats_Mar. 15, 2009 Walking down Modjeska Canyon road yesterday, I stopped to chat with my neighbor, Kristin. She was enjoying some quality time with the 6 goats that she & her husband, Mark, adopted when they moved into the canyon.
claudiatammen > July 8, 2007 I went shooting today with two digital photo friends, Becca and Felicia, in my neighborhood, Modjeska Canyon. It is a beautiful place, full of interesting homes (from the grand to the funky), animals, trees and hiking trails. Helena Modjeska's (a famous actress in the 1800's) estate, Arden, is also here. Unfortunately, it wasn't open today which turned out to be a good thing....we never left my street, Markuson Rd. We were able to shoot photos of this woman and her horses because she generously brought them into the arena and put them through their paces. Thank-you, Nancy! I liked this one best because it shows an intimate moment between her and horse, Kid. They have a lovely relationship and this photo catches a glimpse of that. claudiatammen > July 8, 2007 Here is a photo of "Dalmotion" at dinner time which is also my favorite time of day for capturing light. I love the long shadows, and how all the lines draw the eye to the horse and the simple ritual of mealtime on a ranch. I also like the backlighting of the horses' tails.
claudiatammen > Ana Maria at the Folk Arts Festival I took this photo of Ana Maria from Bogota, Colombia at the Santa Fe International Folk Arts Festival while visiting New Mexico. I loved the black/white contrast and pattern in the the shot. The hats are wonderful. She was very responsive, agreeing to pose for copies of the photos I took. This festival is amazing, colorful, and a treat for all senses - a photographer's dream.
claudiatammen > What is art? I spotted this shot while eating lunch at the Santa Fe International Folk Arts Festival. The Zebra mask was made in Haiti, and waiting to be mailed to it's new owner - in an incongruous stack of bins. I liked the shapes and contrast of the warm adobe wall, the statue in the background, the abstract sculpture, and mask.
